Abstract

During the last ten years, many authors used the Extra Dimensions (ED) paradigm to tackle old fundamental physics problems such as the hierarchy problem, the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking, the generation of the fermion mass hierarchy, the origin of dark matter and the nature of the cosmological constant. In some ED models, new phenomenology is predicted at the TeV scale, which is experimentally very interesting in the context of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which will cover the range from 100 GeV to few TeV. In this seminar we present an overview of the sensitivity of the LHC experiments to ED signals. Given the upcoming first Physics Run of the LHC, we focus on searches with early data at the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment.
