Abstract

Beyond-SM models are often based on various symmetries, which guide model-building and restrict the huge parameter space. Discrete global symmetries, such as flavour or family symmetries, are especially popular. In many cases, the choice of symmetry group is driven by pure guess, and the methods used to construct models are suboptimal. With specific multi-Higgs-doublet model examples, I will show several geometric, algebraic, and group-theoretic tools which allow one to efficiently deal with symmetries in complicated situations.
