Abstract
A massive Yang-Mills theory is formulated via a nonlinear sigma model auxiliary field and Faddeev-Popov ghosts. Two equations are used in order to perform a symmetric subtraction of the divergences: Slavnov-Taylor identity and a local functional equation associated to the local gauge symmetry. The theory is stable under the introduction of counterterms. Physical unitarity is preserved.
