Information for our visitors
From the airport to the IST campus and CFTP, you can take a taxi (and expect to pay around 15 euros) or the bus: bus 22 stops just outside IST. In addition, several other buses and also the underground/Metro take you to our campus.
The campus of IST has four gates: Alameda, Antonio Jose de Almeida, Alves Redol, Rovisco Pais.
The best Metro stop is Alameda, although the one at Saldanha is also whithin walking distance. You can find the Metro map here. If you get out at Alameda our campus is not far, at the top of the hill. To ride the Metro you can buy tickets
at the vending machines inside any of the stations. Also buses 22, 720, 740, 760, 767 stop close to one of the gates of the campus
(Av Rovisco Pais). In addition, bus 745, bus 83, bus 44 and the special tourist Aerobus**, all stoping at the airport, stop also at Saldanha. To find out more, just click on the bus-icons of the map of the public bus company of Lisbon, Carris.
To ride the busses, you buy a ticket from the driver: normal busses inside Lisbon 1.50 Euro, special tourist Aerobus around 4 Euro. Be sure to have small change and coins with you.
If you stay in Lisbon for long, it is less expensive (instead of buying tickets) if you acquire a "Passe Social" which is a overall transport card with identification. Each month, your Passe Social can be updated by a machine. This enables you to use the bus, metro and railway on pre-defined zones (including or not including weekends) according to the price.
Restaurants: Just outside the Campus you may find good restaurants, most of them serving lunch at very acceptable prices, e.g. at 8 - 10 Euro per person. Inside the building, there is also a cheap restaurant/cafetaria. Here the meals are even cheaper (about 4.50 Euro).
